Wizards do not tell non-magical people about their existence because of the potential for fear, discrimination, and persecution. Historically, societies have reacted negatively to those who are different, and revealing the existence of magic could lead to widespread panic and chaos. Additionally, wizards may want to maintain their privacy and avoid being exploited for their abilities. Keeping their existence a secret also allows wizards to live their lives without interference from non-magical individuals. **
